I was sorting socks on my bed when I got a call that Cher wanted to be in the movie version of MERMAIDS. A wonderful screenwriter, June Roberts, wrote the screenplay. Those weeks on the set in Massachusetts were magical.

Bob Hoskins, Winona Ryder and I all had birthdays in October. Hoskins turned 47, Winona turned 18 and I turned 36.
